US drone kills 18 people in Yemen

United States is the only only one who is trying to get the power in Islamic countries and just he operates drones in Yemen.

SANAA (The international news agency)  A drone strike Saturday killed 15 Al-Qaeda suspects and three civilians in Yemen's central Baida province, a stronghold of the extremist group, a security official said.

The jihadists were travelling in a vehicle towards the southern Shabwa province, witnesses said. The three civilians were passing by in another car.
The United States is the only country that operates drones in Yemen, but officials rarely discuss the covert programme.
Last month, Yemen's President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi defended the use of drones against Al-Qaeda in his country, which has killed dozens of militants in a sharply intensified campaign over the past year.
Drone strikes "have greatly helped in limiting Al-Qaeda activities, despite some mistakes which we are sorry about," Hadi told the pan-Arab Al-Hayat daily.
The drone programme has come under criticism from human rights activists concerned over civilian casualties.
The United Nations said 16 civilians were killed and at least 10 wounded when two separate wedding processions were targeted in December.
The victims had been mistakenly identified as members of Al-Qaeda, it quoted local security officials as saying at the time.

But his office has stopped posting Twitter messages in his name, even though he has 4.2 million followers, almost as many as the White House.

That was the atmosphere that a delegation of Twitter officials stepped into when it arrived in Ankara, the capital, this week for a series of meetings with Turkish officials to smooth things over.

The Turks came to the table with a list of demands: that Twitter open an office in Turkey, that it reveal the identities of those posting leaks from a continuing corruption investigation, and that it pay taxes on revenue it earns from advertising in Turkey.
Twitter agreed to prevent some posts from being seen in Turkey, although they will still be viewable in other parts of the world. It will not, however, open an office in Turkey, although it did appoint a local representative to handle complaints from the Turkish government. The company did not comment on the government’s request for user identifications, but in the past, Twitter has refused to provide Internet data that would allow a government to identify a user.
It also said it would pay taxes applicable to an affiliate that sells advertising for Twitter in Turkey. The Turkish government estimates that Twitter generates $35 million per year in advertising revenue in the country.

The minister, Arsen Avakov, said pro-Russian protesters had tried to storm a base used by troops in the newly formed National Guard, which has drawn from volunteers who took part in last winter’s protest movement against the government.

A crowd made up of civilians as well as militants formed outside the base, he said. Mr. Avakov’s description of the conflict indicated another challenge for the new government, as in other cases where pro-Russian groups have seized administrative buildings and police stations.

The events in Mariupol overnight, and in the towns of Slovyansk and Kramatorsk north of the provincial capital of Donetsk on Wednesday, underscored both the limits of Ukraine’s military and the difficulties of the tactical problems it faces in its attempt to dislodge armed separatists from eastern Ukraine.

MH370 co-pilot made mid-flight phone call: report

MH370 co-pilot made mid-flight phone call: report

KUALA LUMPUR: The co-pilot of missing Malaysian airliner MH370 attempted to make a mid-flight call from his mobile phone just before the plane vanished from radar screens, a report said Saturday citing unnamed investigators.
The call ended abruptly possibly "because the aircraft was fast moving away from the (telecommunications) tower", The New Straits Times quoted a source as saying.
But the Malaysian daily also quoted another source saying that while Fariq Abdul Hamid´s "line was reattached", there was no certainty that a call was made from the Boeing 777 that vanished on March 8.The report -- titled a "desperate call for help" -- did not say who he was trying to contact.
Fariq and Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah have come under intense scrutiny after the plane mysteriously vanished en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board. Investigators last month indicated that the flight was deliberately diverted and its communication systems manually switched off as it was leaving Malaysian airspace, triggering a criminal investigation by police that has revealed little so far.
The fate of flight MH370 has been shrouded in mystery, with a number of theories put forward including a hijacking or terrorist attack and a pilot gone rogue.
There have been unconfirmed previous reports in the Malaysian media of calls by the captain before or during the flight but no details have been released.
The NST report said that Flight 370 flew low enough near Penang island on Malaysia´s west coast -- after turning off course -- for a telecommunications tower to pick up the co-pilot´s phone signal.
The phone line was "reattached" between the time the plane veered off course and blipped off the radar, the government-controlled paper quoted the second source as saying.
"A ‘reattachment’ does not necessarily mean that a call was made. It can also be the result of the phone being switched on again."
Malaysia´s transport ministry told that it was examining the NST report and will issue a response.

The Malaysian government and media have repeatedly contradicted each other and themselves over details of the search and criminal investigation.

Indian PM says Modi's promises unrealistic

Indian PM says Modi's promises unrealistic

UTTAR PRADESH: India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday said main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, was making unrealistic promises to the people.
Addressing a public rally in northern town of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, Singh said the BJP campaign was centered only on Modi.
"Their election campaign is centered on a person. He is making tall claims, which has no basis, and he is making such promises that cannot be fulfilled."
Singh also said the BJP's manifesto was divisive. "If you look at the BJP manifesto, you would realise that there is no difference in their old agendas to divide the society."

The election to choose members to the 543-seat Lok Sabha, or House of the People, is spread over five weeks in nine separate phases and ends on May 12. Results would be announced on May 16.

RED CONQUEST for Mas Camp tonight

THE Mas Camp will once again come alive this evening as Bacchanal Fridays hosts its Red Conquest-themed night.
The event is a collaborative venture between the organisers of Bacchanal Jamaica and the Island Vibes entertainment group.
Patrons can anticipate a wildly entertaining performance by Vincentian and Worst Behaviour singer Skinny Fabulous, with music controls by DJ Richie RAS as well as Nuphoric from Trinidad.
The Island Vibes promoters, who now primarily execute soca fetes, are the very same masterminds behind the popular event, the Original Wata Party. While the event received much acclamation from critics and supporters, the subsequent saturation of the market with parties of the same nature prompted the team to redesign a strategy, that would lead them to focus on their passion for soca music, carnival and Caribbean culture.
In a recent interview, resident Bacchanal selector and promoter at Island Vibes, DJ Richie RAS, explained how the collaboration materialised.
"For some time now, we have been in dialogue with the Bacchanal team, sharing ideas, perspectives and experiences with the aim of helping each other. It was during one of these conversations that the offer to partner on a specific event was presented and we were more than happy to accept," said Richie.
"The Island Vibes posse are true soca aficionados with a passion for promulgating the liberating and loving spirit of Caribbean carnival. Well aware of the group's forward-thinking abilities and objectives to expand the Jamaican carnival franchise,
the organisers of Bacchanal Jamaica saw the partnership as a no-brainer decision," said Charmaine Franklin, director at Bacchanal Jamaica.
Red Conquest will also feature a Red Special, which will allow masqueraders to purchase two costumes and get the third at a 50 per cent discount. Major sponsor Appleton will offer drink specials all night.
